Twitter article

Social networking blog

What makes Twitter different from the rest ?

With over "500 million registered profiles" Twitter is now known as one of the most popular social networking sites. There are "100 million active twitter users" and 50% of them log in every day and rather than tweeting they "read news, click links and follow accounts". Time magazine states that Twitter "makes a terrible first impression" and asks "why does the world need this exactly?". Unlike Facebook rather than having to accept friends requests before they can view your posts, in this case tweets, you can view any ones posts (unless you have a private account).
"Twitter is many things: a social network, a short-form messaging service, a news wire, a tool for self-expression — even, some believe, a force for global political change.", according to Jeff Bercovici Twitter is used for many reasons. A well known aspect of twitter is its trends, when a 'hash tag' is regularly used they become a 'trend' and is accessible by users to join in and tweet using the particular 'hash tag', the trend list varies depending on location, however users worldwide are still able to participate in trends and are not restricted. For some people 100 million active users just isn't enough to compete, according to 'The Wall Street Journal' "Twitter has yet to become a daily habit for many people." as " It seems there are more people talking about Twitter than using it."

The Conjuring Film Review

The Conjuring Film Review

Plot
After moving into an old-fashioned farm house in the country side, Carolyn Perron and her family begin to be terrorised by a dark presence. As they pursue help from paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, they are forced to face a demonic entity.
 Review
Directed by James Wan; the director of legendary horror films such as saw, dead silence and insidious, he brings back  Patrick Wilson, known for his role 'insidious', he returns to the big screen as one half of the famous paranormal investigating duo. Joey King, recently recognised for her work in family and action movies, is joined by acting newbie Mackenzie Foy; now known as the famous daughter of vampires Bella and Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. Based on a true story, Carolyn and Roger Perron move to a Rhode Island farm house with their five daughters, inexplicable things start to happen; the cliché event of objects moving unexpectedly and loud noises that are ironically heard by only one person (even though there were others present). The classic introduction to a horror film; Everyone's happy yet one member of the family, in this case the family's dog, begins to get bad vibes from an unfamiliar presence. After the subtle signs of a demonic spirit eventually affecting almost every member of the family, Carolyn contacts paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren for help. As expected, the Warrens discover the farm house has a satanic haunting that has chosen the Perron family as its next victims. Unfortunately as the family are unable to avoid the demonic presence wherever they go, the Warrens have no choice but to put their spiritual powers and knowledge to the ultimate test as the history of the farmhouse reveals how powerful and satanic the unknown presence is.
 Verdict
With Wan orchestrating surprise scares guaranteed to make the audience jump, he uses his legendary twists to give the cliché and frequently recycled storyline a classic 'Wan' edge. Including the traditional horror movies must do’s, Wan once again follows his own rules as he manages to add a unique and modern twang to a movie set in the 70's.

Text A- Informal

When I met Steven, we walked for around for a while with my friend Nat, then we went back to my house. When he had to go home, I walked him to the bus stop and kissed him, but I didn't feel anything. I felt really bad as he is such a nice person. I told him how I felt last night and he completely understood. We are going to the Cinema on Saturday together.

I sat my French General Exam yesterday and I got my results back today, I got thirty-one out of thirty-two so I'm happy.

Claire was really upset in English and I wish I could help her be happy but the only one who can do that is Tony.

Text E - Formal

Empire has witnessed countless unsuccessful remakes over the past few years, however this one is most popular. Get prepared for the return of the Ewings. Some shocking soul is planning a 'Dallas' film. The creator of the dysfunctional family from the 80's, Dave Jacobs, is the producer behind the return of the 'Texan tale'.
